Flagstaff Community Foundation Grant
November 25, 2008
Flagstaff, AZ
The Flagstaff Community Foundation, an affiliate of the Arizona Community Foundation, recently awarded $3000 to Sun Sounds of Arizona at its annual grant distribution event at the Museum of Northern Arizona. Sun Sounds also received $2,000 from the local philanthropic organization GeoFund, to complete the full $5,000 grant request.
It was an exciting day for local Sun Sounds manager Eleanor Mooney and her staff Pat Carus as they received the two checks. “We didn’t know we were getting the full requested grant amount until we arrived at the event. It is very gratifying to know that the Flagstaff community values the work that Sun Sounds does and demonstrated their support with this funding.”
Sun Sounds of Arizona is a radio reading and audio information access service providing information access to Arizonans who cannot use print. The broadcast stations are located in Tempe, Tucson, Flagstaff and Yuma. This grant will benefit the local Flagstaff station and cover basic operating costs such as broadcast fees, facility leases and outreach to listeners throughout northern Arizona.
To donate, volunteer, or sign up for service call Sun Sounds of Arizona at 928-779-1775, or find us on the web at sunsounds.org.
